Major power transformer fire at Canada Bread plant causes evacuation

Canada, Ontario: A power transformer on the side of the Canada Bread building in Glanbrook caught fire yesterday evening causing evacuation of about 100 workers.

 


Canada, Ontario: A power transformer on the side of the Canada Bread building in Glanbrook caught fire yesterday evening causing evacuation of about 100 workers.

Firefighters were called in at 6 p.m. and found heavy fire out on the outside of the building. Hamilton Fire sent 20 units, 15 of which were battling it at its peak.

The factory is expected to be down at least 12 hours while the damage is being evaluated, reports CBC.

Claudio Mostacci, fire department spokesman said it was too early to say what caused the fire or what the damage estimate will be.
