USA, California: Moreno Valley’s City Council approved plans for a new electrical substation to meet growing demand from industrial customers.

The Moreno Valley Utility will build a 115 kV substation at the parcel at Kitching Street and Edwin Road. By 2016, customer load in the south industrial area is forecast to be at 115% of capacity, reports The Press Enterprise.

“The capacity to fulfill the needs that are coming in the southern part of the city are critical.” Ahmad Ansari, the city’s public works director, told the council.

The new substation will include two transformers, a switching station, circuit breakers, control room and underground distribution circuit feeders. Design and construction are expected to take two to three years.
