USA, Indiana: Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans to start construction of a $16.5 million substation in Muncie this year at a major gateway to Ball State University, Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital and the Kenmore residential neighbourhood.

The proposed Kenmore substation would be a 34.5/12 kV station replacing the nearby 1950s Tillotson substation which is unable to serve local load during peak times because of transformer restraints.

The project is part of a $787 million, seven-year plan for transmission and distribution improvements that I&M is asking the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to approve.
