USA, North Carolina: Synthetic products manufacturer DSM Dyneema has formed a partnership with the Norwegian manufacturer of link chains Load Solutions to develop synthetic link chains capable of holding extremely heavy load and equipment.

The chains made from DSM’s ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fibre will be capable of holding extremely large power transformers weighing up to 600 tons, reports KHL.

The chains, branded as Tycan, are seawater-proof, able to float on water and resistant to chemicals. They can also be wrapped over the edges of cargo without suffering any damage and can withstand shock loads.
