Jordan, Amman: The Cabinet of Jordan has approved a $9.9M project for the construction of a new transformer substation in the Tafileh Governorate in southern Jordan.

The new 33/132 kV substation with power transformers and accompanying electrical equipment will be built by the National Electric Power Company in the vicinity of the areas that experience heavy power load in Tafileh, reports Zawya.

In parallel, the electricity distribution company will install 33 kV ground cables to support power loads in Tafileh, Eis and Ain Al Baida areas.

This project is in line with measures the government is taking to prevent the recurrence of power outages that took place in the southern governorates, especially Tafileh, during the recent blizzard that hit the Kingdom.
