United Kingdom, West Yorkshire: The UK power and distribution transformers manufacturer Winder Power has secured a contract with the Port of Felixstowe, Suffolk, for the design, manufacture and installation of 26 package substations.

The substations equipped with power transformers and associated electrical equipment will enable all diesel-powered gantry cranes at the port to be electrified, states Winder Power in a press release.

“This project is one of the largest that Winder Power has undertaken in over 100 years of existence. A team of experienced engineers will be in the factory and on-site for approximately 3 years to ensure the successful completion of the project,” said Laurence MacKenzie, Group Managing Director at Winder Power.

Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. The project work will run until the spring of 2018.
