Athens leaders approve funds for a new transformer station

USA, Alabama: Athens City Council has decided to build a new substation in order to ensure there is enough power for the growing city needs.

 


USA, Alabama: Athens City Council has decided to build a new substation in order to ensure there is enough power for the growing city needs.

City leaders have approved a budget of $750,000 for a new power transformer to be built into a substation which will serve around 10,000 customers surrounding Highway 72 and along County Line Road, reports WHNT News.

The construction is scheduled to begin in the spring and it will take a year for the substation to be completed. 

The total value of the property and equipment will reach $3 million.
