New transformer and $2.3M upgrade for Barbosa substation

Colombia, Velez: A new power transformer will be commissioned in a few days at Barbosa substation in the municipality of Velez, Colombia, as part of the Remos substation upgrade programme. 

The modernisation project worth $2.3 million has included installation of a new 12.5 MVA power transformer, as well as relocation and upgrade of output circuits, and repowering of the 34.5 kV line which feeds Velez and Sucre substations, reports Vanguardia.

The head of the Remos programme said the $2.3 million investment in the province of Vélez has been made in order to acquire new earthquake-resistant power equipment and modernise electrical infrastructure, which will have a positive impact on the provision of electric service to the customers in the region.
