Fire breaks out near blown transformers in Richmond

Power supply was cut to at least 1900 customers early Wednesday morning following several reports of transformer fire throughout Richmond's Northside, Virginia, USA.

Power supply was cut to at least 1900 customers early Wednesday morning following several  reports of transformer fire throughout Richmond’s Northside, Virginia, USA.

Richmond police reported that the transformer fire happened around 4.00 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Graham Road. Upon arriving on scene, the crew witnessed heavy flames and smoke near an apartment block. Virginia Power also arrived to help with the situation.

Several other reports of transformer problems were investigated in the area, including 2200 block of Northumberland Avenue, 2300 block of Chamberlayne Avenue and the 2300 block of Brook Road transformers.

No one has been reported injured in the fire incidents.
