Transformer explosion causes fire at New Brunswick post office

USA, New Jersey: A transformer explosion on Monday caused fire that ripped through the main post office in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Authorities confirmed that the transformer blew up underground, outside the post office on the Kirkpatrick Street, reports CBS New York.

Authorities confirmed that the transformer blew up underground, outside the post office on the Kirkpatrick Street, reports CBS New York.

Everyone managed to get out safely and there were no injuries reported after the incident.

Public Service Electric & Gas said the transformer exploded as crews were restoring power, causing an equipment failure. The company worked to restore power after the explosion.
