Blown transformer in Seattle injured 3 and caused outage to 10,000

USA, Seattle: Three Seattle City Light employees were injured by an explosion at the East Pine Street substation caused by a blown transformer, which knocked out power to nearly 10,000 customers across the Capitol Hill, Madison Park and Madrona neighbourhoods of Seattle Wednesday afternoon.

Utility officials said the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. as employees were installing a grounding rod using a small excavator with an attached jackhammer, reports Komo News.
