PTS (Parque Tecnológico de la Salud) and Endesa will build a new transformer substation in the Metropolitan Park, Granada, Spain when they receive connection to the Las Gabias power line.

PTS and Sevillian Endesa Foundation have reached an agreement after months of negotiating the supply problem which was affecting the park and kept new businesses waiting in suspense.

An agreement was officially signed in January but it has taken the commitment and hard work to resolve the lack of electrical power as soon as possible so pending projects could be completed. There had been ten outstanding building projects to which Endesa had not approved power supply until the issue had been resolved.

PTS and Endesa eventually agreed to install the third transformer in the remaining space in the current Park substation. The problem which led to solution was the fact that the project for the Park substation power supply was made in 2002 and according to calculations back then, the Park required 13 MW of electricity. However, the deficit of 16 MW has been recorded twice so far.

This new transformer substation will be constructed near the original substation in the Metropolitan Park. As the Metro is also bound to the agreement, it will transfer Endesa’s 8 km-power line from Las Gabias to PTS.

As PTS plans to connect the third transformer to its own substation, it will be bound to pay out an unspecified amount.

PTS and Endesa must resolve the supply issue within 24 months.
