The Provincial Energy Neuquén (Ente Provincial de Energía de Neuquén), Argentina stated that it will be able to deal with high demand for power supply. The company announced that all the necessary power supply points “are operating normally”.

The Cooperative (CALF) had warned that there could be supply problems due to high demand and that there was a possibility of power outages. However, the EPEN disagreed with these predictions.

“Both the Alto Valle transformer station located at the confluence of the Neuquén and Limay rivers and the Parque Industrial  transformer station operate at full capacity. The Gran Neuquén station located on the plateau, has 40 % of power remaining which allows for the necessary power required by high power supply demand “said the EPEN.

The EPEN added that the appropriate planning for electricity supply funded by the Ministry of Energy and Utilities has taken place across the province, particularly regarding the areas which are necessary for the power supply to Neuquén, Centenario, Plottier and Vista Alegre. As part of the planning, Gran Neuquén,  Centenario and Vista Alegre transformer stations have been extended and upgraded. Power transformer at Alto Valle substation will also be replaced when the new transformer arrives to the station in January.

The funds for the construction of the new Plottier substation should also be approved soon according to the EPEN.
