The $36 million New York Power Authority (NYPA) budget will be used for work on the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt power project and supporting facilities in Massena.

The 2014 budget that has been approved recently, will include the investment in 16 power plants and transmission facilities, and energy efficiency projects at local and state government facilities statewide.

Amongst other projects, the capital budget includes $ 18.8 million for replacement of 765/230-kV transformer in Massena.

The Power Authority’s increased funding of ongoing energy efficiency projects throughout the state in 2014 will contribute to sustaining or creating thousands of private sector design, construction and engineering jobs, the news release from NYPA says.

The typical project installations have included high-efficiency lighting, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, automated energy management systems and clean energy technologies ranging from fuel cells to solar power photovoltaic installations to introducing electric vehicles in government automotive fleets.
