Romanian Electrica to invest $800M and replace 6,000 transformers

Romania, Bucharest: Romania’s electric power supplier Electrica announced its $135 million (€121 million) investment plan for 2015, and an investment plan of $800 million (over €715 million) until 2018 for modernization of medium voltage lines, transformer stations, and a development of a general asset management plan.

 


Romania, Bucharest: Romania’s electric power supplier Electrica announced its $135 million (€121 million) investment plan for 2015, and an investment plan of $800 million (over €715 million) until 2018 for modernization of medium voltage lines, transformer stations, and a development of a general asset management plan.

As part of the investment plan, by 2018 the company plans to replace over 6,000 medium-voltage transformers with low-loss units of the power rating  between 10MVA and 40 MVA, reports The Diplomat.

In addition, by 2018 Electrica aims the transition to 20 kV for about 3,000 km of medium-voltage power lines and a total of 2,400 transformer stations.

The company also plans to develop a general asset management plan which will comprise 437 substations, 26,000 transformer stations, over 50,000 km of medium and high-voltage lines and over 85,000 km of low-voltage lines.
