Azerbaijan, Baku: Azerbaijan’s biggest power producer, Azerenergy JSC, has been implementing a plan to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity throughout Azerbaijan this winter, replacing the outdated transformers and substations in the capital and other country’s regions.

As part of this project, so far the company has constructed around 700 new transformer substations, and 700 more will be built by the end of the current year, reports Azernews.

Currently, 34 substations and power transmission lines with a total length of 50 kilometres are under construction.

The company expects to reduce the losses in Azerbaijan’s electricity distribution networks from 16.5 to 6.5% and the rate of energy loss through transmission lines from 4.3 to 2.8% by 2020.
