$252M to be invested in Nagpur district power infrastructure
India, Nagpur: The Central Government of India and the Maharashtra State Government have decided to invest around $252 million in a major boost to power infrastructure in Nagpur district in order to improve the quality of power supply in urban and semi-urban areas and help Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) provide agricultural pump connections to farmers.
India, Nagpur: The Central Government of India and the Maharashtra State Government have decided to invest around $252 million in a major boost to power infrastructure in Nagpur district in order to improve the quality of power supply in urban and semi-urban areas and help Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) provide agricultural pump connections to farmers.
According to a source quoted by The Times of India, MSEDCL will invest around $14 million, while the Central Government will provide over $186 million under IDPS and Smart City schemes. Mahatransco (Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company) will invest another $52 million.
The project will include construction of three 220 kV substations, three 132 kV substations and 14 33 kV substations, increasing the capacity of Congress Nagar substation with an additional 10 MVA power transformer, installation of new distribution transformers and increase in the capacity of existing ones, and new underground and overhead HT and LT cables.
Other than Nagpur, 10 more urban areas in the district will benefit from the infrastructure upgrade project, including Kamptee, Katol, Umred, Kalmeshwar, Saoner, Khapa, Narkhed, Mowad, Mohpa and Ramtek.
