Russia, Belgorod: Belgorodenergo, a Russia-based company involved in the transfer and distribution of electricity in Belgorod District has this year started a mass installation of energy efficient transformers in substations with voltage of 6 (10)/0.4 kV.

The decision to use energy-efficient power equipment was made on the basis of a comprehensive study of loss levels conducted after the first innovative transformer was installed in the distribution network in January 2014.

So far about 20 of these transformers have been installed in the region, reports Abireg.

The company plans to replace between 250 and 500 power transformers per year, hoping to see substantial energy savings in 10 years and help improve the efficiency of electricity transmission as a whole.
