Siemens receives biggest HVDC transformer order to date

Germany: Siemens has received an order for 14 ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) converter transformers for the Nanjing station of the Shanxi Jinbei-Jiangsu Nanjing transmission project in China.

 


Germany: Siemens has received an order for 14 ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) converter transformers for the Nanjing station of the Shanxi Jinbei-Jiangsu Nanjing transmission project in China.

The order awarded by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) exceeds $82 million and is the biggest HVDC transformer order that Siemens has until now received, the company states in the press release.

The 800 kV UHVDC project Jinbei-Nanjing will be the first UHVDC transmission system in Shanxi and the second that terminates in Jiangsu.

Siemens has previously supplied two 800 kV HVDC transformers and two 600 kV HVDC transformers for the HVDC transformer facility in Guangzhou, China.
