USA, New York: Rochester Gas and Electric, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, has received two substation transformers, which make key components of the Ginna Retirement Transmission Alternative (GRTA).

The 236-ton transformers manufactured in China successfully arrived on-site at the RG&E substation in Perinton, reports Daily Messenger.

The $140 million GRTA project will allow the company to draw more power from the New York Power Authority lines south of Rochester and ensure reliability in the region independent of the Robert Emmett Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, which might retire by the end of the decade, reports Daily Messenger.

The GRTA completion date is expected in the first half of 2017.
