$10M substation upgrades completed in Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo: With an investment of over $10 million, Dominican Republic’s power distributor Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este has concluded its 2015 substation construction, repowering and extension programme, improving the electricity service and living conditions for over 487,000 people in its concession area.

 


Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo: With an investment of over $10 million, Dominican Republic’s power distributor Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este has concluded its 2015 substation construction, repowering and extension programme, improving the electricity service and living conditions for over 487,000 people in its concession area.

The works included the upgrade of the 138 kV Higüey substation with a new 50 MVA power transformer, the construction of the new substation Islander Cruz with a new 14 MVA transformer, extending Romana-Pueblo substation with one 28 MVA transformer and one 18 MVA transformer, and Roman-138 substation with a power transformer of 40 MVA, reports Hoy.

The project also included new substations Boyá Sabana Grande with a 7 MVA transformer, Boca Chica with a 28 MVA transformer, San Pedro II with 28 MVA transformer, Consuelo with a 14 MVA transformer and Guaymate with a 3 MVA transformer.
