Yesterday morning a power cut occurred in several areas of Corrientes, Argentina, due to a transformer fault at the 500 kV Puerto Bastiani station in the Chaco Province. The power supply was provided from an alternative source at Paso de la Patria.

It is believed that the transformer fault occurred due to recent high temperatures.

The electricity supply was enabled fairly quickly in most of the affected areas.

The DPEC (Dirección Provincial de Energía de Corrientes) officials said they had registered another short cut after the repairs of the faulty transformer at Puerto Bastiani had been completed.

The recent heatwave has been affecting most of the country lately and new energy consumption records have been noted.
