Edese crews continue to work overtime to repair the damage left by the tornado. The failure of a Transnoa transformer, which covers 20 % of the city electricity demand, has affected supply service.

Following the storm last Thursday, one of the main transformers at the Santiago Centro substation broke down. The 30 MVA transformer supplies around 20 % of the Santiago del Estero, Argentina, electricity demand and, as such, is very important for the electricity supply.

Transnoa has secured a replacement transformer but due to the weight and size, it must be transported in special lorries which are not always available, especially in Santiago del Estero. The commissioning of the new transformer involves not only the transport, but also a series of technical adjustments to the transformer station.

The deadline for Transnoa to carry out the transformer replacement is Thursday which coincides with another heat wave forecast.
