Fire engulfs transformer in Bangladesh, two more damaged

Bangladesh, Dhaka: A power transformer at Desh Energy power plant in Narayanganj, Bangladesh has been gutted in a fire on Friday morning.

 


Bangladesh, Dhaka: A power transformer at Desh Energy power plant in Narayanganj, Bangladesh has been gutted in a fire on Friday morning.

Two more transformers at the rental power plant at Siddhirganj were also damaged in the fire that started around 9 a.m. on Friday. The 100 MW rental plant had five transformers, reports The Financial Express.

Seven firefighting units were put into service to put out the flames.

 “We tried to protect the two others [sic] while putting out the fire. Overheating might have caused the mishap,” said Fire Service official Masudur Rahman.
