India, Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh (MP) Power Generating Company Limited will impose financial penalty on Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the outage of its four thermal power units caused by technical failures, which have incurred financial losses to the company.

Among the forced shutdowns of the company’s units is closing of Unit 11 of Satpura Thermal Power Station, Sarni, which has been out of order for the last seven months after a fire incident due to a transformer bushing failure, followed by Unit 10 which experienced the same problem, reports The Hitavada.

Further investigations confirmed that the technical snags occurred due to faulty components supplied by BHEL, said Managing Director AP Bhairve.

BHEL has made amendments to transformer bushing design after another national thermal power company, NTPC, raised questions on the quality of its bushings in 2007, according to The Hivada.
