Leroy Center receiving two massive power transformers

USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy Corp. is expanding a transmission substation in Leroy Center to help reinforce the electric system, support load growth and enhance reliability in The Illuminating Company's northeast Ohio service area.

 


USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy Corp. is expanding a transmission substation in Leroy Center to help reinforce the electric system, support load growth and enhance reliability in The Illuminating Company’s northeast Ohio service area.

The project includes installing two massive 345/138 kV electrical transformers, each weighing about 368 tons and measuring about 8.5 metres tall by 8 metres wide and 13.5 metres in length, FirstEnergy stated in a press release.

The overall cost of the project is approximately $24 million.

The in-service date for the expanded substation is 1 June 2016.
