ABB wins $ 60 million power orders in Saudi Arabia

ABB has won orders worth over $ 60 million for power stations to improve transmission capacity and supply electricity to the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).
KAEC has a 173 square km development area, located along the coast of the Red Sea. The contracts come as part of an ambitious programme to diversify predominantly oil-based economy of Saudi Arabia. ABB will design, supply, install and commission the 380 kV Haramain high-speed railway (HHR3) substation, which supplies electricity to KAEC at 110 kV. The company’s reliable insulated 380 kV switchgear (GIS) technology will help to minimise the substation footprint.
“The need to build up reliable and efficient power infrastructure in the Middle East is an important growth driver for ABB.
