Germany/UAE: German energy company RWE and UAE-based renewables developer Masdar’s development consent order (DCO) application for the 3 GW Dogger Bank South (DBS) offshore wind project has been accepted into the local Planning Inspectorate examination phase. This means the project will become subject to a public examination later this year, a press statement said.

The companies’ next aim to secure contracts for difference (CfD), followed by financing and construction. DBS consists of two projects, Dogger Bank South East and Dogger Bank South West, located in shallow waters of the North Sea about 100 km (62.1 mi) off the northeast coast of England. The 200 turbine complex could supply enough electricity to power three million homes.
