Ethiopia investing $93M in the upgrade of three substations

Ethiopia: Ethiopian Electric Power signed an agreement with Shanghai Electric Group Company for the expansion of substations in three towns of Amhara regional state in Ethiopia at a cost of over $93 million.

 


Ethiopia: Ethiopian Electric Power signed an agreement with Shanghai Electric Group Company for the expansion of substations in three towns of Amhara regional state in Ethiopia at a cost of over $93 million.

According to the agreement, a 400 kV substation with power transformers and associated equipment will be built in Woldia town, having the capacity of 450 MW. The planned expansions at Kombolcha will help supply 900 MW of electric power to the city, reports Star Africa

The cost of the project is over $93 million, about 85% of which has been received from China Exim Bank and the balance will be covered by the government of Ethiopia.
