Australia, Melbourne: A substation transformer caught fire in the inner Melbourne suburb of Richmond yesterday, sending flames up to six metres into the sky.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) crews that were called to an electrical substation at Mary Street had to wait for electricity to the transformer to be turned off before they could put out the blaze with foam lines, reports ABC.

There was about 1,000 litres of transformer oil on fire.

Ambulance crews were on site, but there were no reports of injuries.
