L&T wins $126 railway electrification contract

India, Uttar Pradesh: The consortium of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Instalaciones Inabensa, S.A. from Spain has been awarded a design and construction order worth $126 million from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) for electrification works for 417-km section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Mughalsarai to New Bhaupur in Uttar Pradesh.

 


India, Uttar Pradesh: The consortium of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Instalaciones Inabensa, S.A. from Spain has been awarded a design and construction order worth $126 million from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) for electrification works for 417-km section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Mughalsarai to New Bhaupur in Uttar Pradesh.

The scope of the project includes construction of seven traction substations and 18 switching stations, along with the supply of transformers and all associated equipment, as well as 881 track km of overhead equipment, SCADA and electrical and mechanical works, L&T said in a statement.

This section will be designed for 2×25 kV traction power system with overhead equipment (OHE) suitable for dedicated freight transport.

This project is funded by World Bank and is part of the 1,856 km Eastern DFC proposed between Sahnewal (Ludhiana) and Dankuni (Near Kolkata) via Mughalsarai.
