Obera receives new transformer purchased by the Province

The Electric Cooperative Obera (Celo), Argentina, received a new 8.5 MVA power transformer of 33/13.86 kV, from the Provincial Government. The transformer which cost approximately $ 360,000 and weighs 18 tons, is of vital importance for the city in order to increase the demand for electrical power.

The Electric Cooperative Obera (Celo), Argentina, received a new 8.5 MVA power transformer of 33/13.86 kV, from the Provincial Government. The transformer which cost approximately $ 360,000 and weighs 18 tons, is of vital importance for the city in order to increase the demand for electrical power.

“We are grateful to the government for this opportunity to improve the quality of life of our entire population,” said Carlos Miguez , Celo president.

The upgrade of the Obera North substation will help to cut down frequent outages which occur because the Cooperative had to suppy the urban area with rural lines. Those lines are known to be too long and poor quality as they are exposed to the elements and suffer damage from fallen trees. The upgrade will allow better distribution of the energy in the city.
