A large part of power transformer fleet is scheduled for replacement at Gergebilsky HPP, Gergebilsky District, Russia, as part of comprehensive modernisation framework RusHydro (PKM*).

As part of the contract with VNIIR GidroElektroAvtomatika, the design work and equipment supply have already been completed. According to schedule, 55 % of turbines, 42 % of generators and 61 % of the total transformer fleet will be replaced. This will prevent rapid aging of the equipment fleet, update generating capacity and reduce operating costs by minimising the volume of repairs. The planned generation increase of Gergebilsky HPP is 1,375 million kWh.

The Plant is located on the river Karakoysu and is the oldest hydroelectric plant in Dagestan. It was first launched in 1938 and in the early 1990s, it was almost completely reconstructed.
