The transformer at the Zapadnaya substation in Blagoveshchensk, Russia was shut down yesterday to eliminate damage to the transformer.

The transformer was shut down because it was tripping and on the examination, it was found that the transformer is in the early stages of failure. The incident at the Zapadnaya substation caused an outage in the city which is a home to approximately 17,000 people.

Head of the press service of JSC DRSK Amur Electrical Networks, Inga Shilova , announced by noon that the repairs had been completed and the consumers are being supplied in the usual way.

According to Shilova, the power was transferred to a backup power supply immediately after the incident for hospitals, kindergartens and other important places. Shilova said at the time that the consumers should be supplied from the usual source shortly.
