Driver gets fined $ 40,000 and nearly losses power transformer load

The state patrol found him on a Skagit country road and found out his directions were illegal. The driver nearly lost his load on a local bridge which almost collapsed, according to Kiro 7.
In order to get his massive load off the road, the driver had no option but to go through a roundabout breaking street signs, and tearing up the concrete in the process. The driver was fined more than $ 40,000. It is the largest ticket ever seen by Chris Baldwin with the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of a 105,4 tonne truck also crossed the bridge with weight limit of 47.7 tonnes to Fir Island, endangering his life and risking a loss of the power transformer. “Well, I just thank God I’m not in the water!” said the truck driver, Ken Green, who is employed by a Texas-based trucking company. He was in possession of a permit for city and county roads like I-5, however he needed a special permit from Skagit and several other areas to avoid low overpasses. Since his employer did not provide a phone number for the special permit, the driver assumed he was allowed to use side roads.
Mr Green said he thought it was the permit company’s fault when he was interviewed by Kiro 7. He could be waiting for up to 10 days to receive permits for Whatcom County and in the meanwhile he has 15 days to pay or contest the $ 40,000 fine which was issued directly to him.
The bridge which the the truck crossed will also be inspected for damage.
