Several transformers catch fire cutting power to thousands in Miami

USA, Florida: Several transformers caught fire at the Florida Power & Light (FPL) facility in West Miami-Dade on Tuesday afternoon, leaving several thousand people without electricity.

 


USA, Florida: Several transformers caught fire at the Florida Power & Light (FPL) facility in West Miami-Dade on Tuesday afternoon, leaving several thousand people without electricity.

Fire crews responded to the scene after an explosion and fire were reported near Northwest 72nd Avenue and 64th Street, where flames and a thick smoke could be seen coming from a transformer grid at the substation, reports Local 10.

The fire, which left 10,000 FPL customers without power, has by now been extinguished and the power has been restored to the affected area.

No injuries were reported.
