Pakistan: The Asian Development Bank has approved an $810 million loan to develop Pakistan’s power transmission system.

The aim is to improve the quality and reliability of the country’s energy supply, and meet increasing demand for electricity, reports Public Finance International.

At the end of June, the ADB approved a separate $600 million loan to help reform Pakistan’s public sector, of which power distribution companies were to be one of the main beneficiaries.

The loan will help to rejuvenate and expand the transmission network and increase capacity, energy efficiency and security.
