ANDE launches tenders for construction of new power station

Paraguay, Mariano Roque Alonso: The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) is to launch an invitation to tender for the construction of a new power substation in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso. The bidding process to supply power transformers is scheduled for the 12th March 2014, writes ABC Color.
The invitation is the International Public Bidding ANDE-BIRF-756-2014 ANDE and is part of the project to strengthen the electricity sector. It is divided into three lots: Lot 1: 220/23 kV three phase power transformer, Lot 2: 220/66 kV single phase power transformer and Lot 3: 66/23 kV three phase power transformer.
The intention is to meet the growing demand in the area and minimise outages recorded in the district. According to the survey conducted by technicians from the state agency, the city has had a sustained commercial growth but is far away from the power distribution centres so it is currently being fed by the lines coming Limpio, Luque and Puerto Botanico.
Another area served by ANDE is the southern region of the country and there are plans to replace power transformers in Encarnacion where power demand grew considerably with the tourist and commercial activity. Due to this, the construction of a new substation in Cambyretá has been announced as well as the expansion of the power capacity in Trinidad.
Regarding the allegations of continued power outages in the Ciudad del Este area, ANDE engineer ,Victor Romero, admitted that there many inconveniences due to a number of illegal connections which hinder control of the load and therefore transformer failures occur.
