Nigeria: Nigerian federal government has ordered electricity distribution companies (Discos) to stop customers from buying transformers, saying that is the responsibility of the Discos themselves.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, issued this order saying that the purchase of transformers by customers must stop because it undermines the trust in electricity distribution companies and the operation of the system, reports Daily Trust.

The order was announced during the meeting with the new Managing Director of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Mr Ernest Mupwaya.
