USA, Washington: The Public Utility District is overhauling Snohomish County Norton Substation, which powers about half the waterfront and several hundred homes in the north end of Everett, Washington.

The project includes replacing a 1960s transformer with a new, and the District’s first, 230 kV power transformer with new technology, reports HeraldNet.

The utility plans to spend $49 million this year rebuilding substations and taking other steps to keep the power flowing to area homes and businesses.
