Russia, Krasnoyarsk Territory: The transport of three power transformers from Zaporozhye, Ukraine, to Boguchanskaya HPP is now completed, Ria-Sibir reports.

Three 220 kV power transformers were shipped from Mariupol port, Ukraine.Their total weight is 840 tonnes.

Yelena Vishnjakova, RusGidro company spokeswoman, said that the cargo covered 5000 km distance. Heavy transformer transport consisted of two main stages: delivery of the equipment down the following route – Mariupol – Don River – Volga River – Lake Onega – White Sea Baltic Canal – White Sea – Kara Sea – Yenisei River; and transport of heavy large transformer carcasses and major components from the river to the site.

Contracts with ZTR (Zaporozhye Transformer Plant) to manufacture and supply the transformer equipment concluded in 2008.

The first batch of transformers was delivered to Boguchanskaya HPP in 2009, and the second batch – 3 power transformers, autotransformers, four auxiliary power transformers weighing 1,357 tonnes – in 2010.

In 2006,  the joint venture agreement between RusGidro and Rusal was signed to create Boguchansky Energy and Metals Association (BEMO).

The access of Boguchanskaya HPP to full capacity in 2013 formed a base for the public investment project ‘Integrated development of the Lower Angara region’, which will enable further development of the area natural resource potential of the area. Period for implementation of the project is defined from 2006 to 2015.
