Bolivia, La Paz: General manager of state Transmission of Electricity (TDE), Roberto Peredo, said the new transformer has been transported to Uyuni as part of the substation renewal programme. The town substation is located in the southwest of Bolivia.

The new power transformer will start operation on the 31st January, writes FmBolivia.

The manager said, speaking to ABI agency, that the replacement of the transformer was necessary due to outages. The old transformer was installed in Carreras to ensure power supply while the new transformer was being transported. He acknowledged that there was a delay in the transport of the transformer due to the customs in Chile which brought Bolivia’s foreign trade to a standstill for at least 10 days.

“The new transformer arrived on the 20th January and it will be put into operation on the 31st January,” he said adding that from then onwards, outages should no longer occur.

The Bolivian government allocated approximately $ 5 million for the implementation of a project to replace the entire electrical system in the Uyuni substation.
