Transformer explosion in Kottayam disrupts power supply across the region
India, Kerala: A major blast took place at the 200 MVA transformer at Poovanthuruth 220 kV substation in Kottayam on Thursday night, plunging most parts of the region into darkness.
Following the incident, almost entire Kottayam district and several places in Alappuzha experienced power outage, reports Manorama Online.
Power supply will continue be disrupted on Friday as well, officials said.
No casualties was reported.
Fire fighters are still at the spot cooling the transformers to avoid further damage, a KSEB officials said.
