New ABB autotransformer to be installed at the Novosibirsk HPP in late 2014

Russia, Novosibirsk: An autotransformer manufactured by ABB, weighing 220 tonnes, has been delivered to Novosibirsk. The replacement of the autotransformer will significantly improve the reliability of the equipment and utilities at the Novosibirsk HPP, writes EnergyLand.info.
Installation of the equipment will be carried out within the framework of a comprehensive modernisation. It weighs 220 tonnes and it was delivered on the ferry from Poland to St. Petersburg, then by rail and road to Novosibirsk HPP.
The replacement of autotransformer at Novosibirsk HPP to more eco-friendly equipment will decrease the use of transformer oil by more than two times. Furthermore, by increasing the capacity of the new autotransformer windings, the production and transmission of electricity will also increase. This is not possible with the existing equipment.
Autotransformer installation scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014.
