Andrew Yule and Company to expand in power transformer market
India, Calcutta: Andrew Yule & Company Ltd is now in partnership with Russian transformer manufacturer Togliatti Transformator in order to expand in the high-voltage transformer market.

India, Calcutta: Andrew Yule & Company Ltd is now in partnership with Russian transformer manufacturer Togliatti Transformator in order to expand in the high-voltage transformer market.
The company will invest Rs 150 crore ($ 2.4 million) in a second power plant in Chennai. The existing unit manufactures 1100 MVA power transformers. There are plans to enhance the range of transformers from 132kV to 400kV, and then to 765 kV.
Andrew Yule already has three facilities in Calcutta (at Thakurpukur, Mayurbhanj Road and on Transport Depot Road) which manufacture distribution transformers but another one may be added in Bakrahat near Behala.
“With this agreement, Andrew Yule will be able to cater to the country’s UHV (ultra-high voltage) transformer requirements at reliable and competitive prices“, said chairman and managing director Kallol Datta.
“Togliatti is giving us all kinds of support and will also help us in designing the factory. We might also get into engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts in a big way”, he added.
