Transformer at Bonaire power station explodes

USA, Georgia: A Flint Energies power transformer exploded at the Georgia Power substation in Bonaire and caused fire, writes The Telegraph.
Houston County Fire Chief, Jimmy Williams, said the explosion was reported just after the noon at the Georgia Power substation which is located at Sandy Run Road and Highway 247. US Air Force used 3,000 gallons of suppressive foam causing clouds of white smoke. No injuries have been reported.
The company’s spokeswoman, Carol Boatwright, said that apparently, no outages have been caused by the fire as the workers rerouted power around the transformer but the cause is still unknown. The transformer will be examined in an attempt to determine the cause of the explosion.
Boatwright added that many Central Georgia customers experienced problems with their lights which was probably caused by downed lines in the substation.
