South Africa: South African state-run power utility, Eskom and Électricité de France (EDF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend peer cooperation in the fields of transmission and distribution of electricity.

The MoU follows constructive interactions that started in November 2015 with a $445,470 grant provided by the French Development Agency (AFD), which facilitated a transfer of experience and expertise on various areas, including transformer asset management, smart grids and renewable energy integration, reports ESI-Africa.

The MoU between Eskom and EDF will further strengthen the relationship between the two peers, deepening the technical skills of engineers in various areas of electricity transmission and distribution.
