India, Noida: The UP Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) has approved Rs 19.2 crore ($ 3 million) for completion of the additional substation for Noida and Greater Noida.

The fund was approved after several meetings between the Noida Authority, the energy department and the UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The works will start next week with the aim to complete the project before the summer.

The officials said that civil construction work related to the installation of the additional transformer is almost complete. This will increase the transformer capacity of the substation from 945 MVA to 1,445 MVA.

The Noida Authority has funded almost Rs 29.45 crore ($ 4.7 million) of the project, while the Greater Noida Authority will provide the remaining amount.

“Since Greater Noida will also draw additional electricity from the transformer, they will also pay for a part of the project,” said a senior UPPTCL official.
