Vicente substation in final stages of modernisation

Cuba, Ciego de Avila: Vicente substation is now in the final stage of modernisation which will result in increased reliability of the National Electric System (SEN). The 220 kV substation Vicente is considered one of the important ones in the country.

Cuba, Ciego de Avila: Vicente substation is now in the final stage of modernisation which will result in increased reliability of the National Electric System (SEN). The 220 kV substation Vicente is considered one of the important ones in the country.

Current transformers, switchgear and lightning arresters have been replaced as part of the national programme to improve the substations and transmission lines.

The electrical engineer, Angel Garrudo Parjús, head of transmission in The Electric Union of Cuba (ECIE), told Granma that work began in 2008 and so far over 80 % of the equipment has been modernised.  

Improvements also included modernisation of protection and control schemes and installation of two reactors.
