JSC Uralkali updates its power substation in Solikamsk

Russia, Solikamsk: JSC Uralkali replaced a power transformer on one of their main step-down substations in Solikamsk.
New modern transformer was purchased as part of the investment and is more reliable. The replacement was necessary as the substation had outlived its equipment.
Vadim Buldakov, chief electrician of Solikamsk 2 noted that the former transformer has been operating on Solikamsk 2 since 1973. Because of its wear, loss of electricity started to occur when converting voltages. Last year it was decided to replace the outdated transformer with a more modern model. It is assumed that the new transformer will reduce the energy losses that are inevitable when converting voltage, two to three times.
The main step down substation is responsible for providing a stable energy supply to almost all of the underground Solikamsk 2 complex. This includes mine equipment and mine hoist barrel Number 4 as well as the main fan installation.
